I'm not originally from the Northwest, but I gladly call it home. I grew up in the Midwest. After graduate school, I left the U.S. to teach in Nepal. And after two years, I was still not ready to come back home. So, I moved to Japan where I taught English for another two years. After living in these two Asian countries, where the natural beauty was everywhere around me, I tried to find what I loved most about these two places all in the same place--the mountains in Nepal and the sea around Japan. And I found them here in Seattle.
My days as an intrepid traveler aren't over. But my hiatus here in Seattle is now bridging ten years.
I work as a freelance writer from time to time, but mostly keep my days busy as a staff science & health writer and editor.
Weekday nights I fill with salsa dancing and Hungarian lessons, while my weekends take me out of the city to hike or to bike.
